About Us

Established in 2007, Funatical Fitness started with my determination to provide quality, enjoyable Personal Training to the residents of my local community.

At 12 years of age I started to struggle with my weight – I hated sports, was never interested in exercise and much preferred to sit in front of the television and eat rather than get active.  I had severe back pain, which doctors and physiotherapists attributed to my weight gain.  At 14 it was discovered that I actually had a prolapsed disc in my lower back, requiring surgery and a lengthy recovery process.
By the age of 16 I was considerably overweight and not at all happy with my situation.  After doing pilates and physiotherapy as rehabilitation from my back injury I started working with a Personal Trainer.  She took the pressure off me to be self-motivated,  coming to my house and getting me off the couch and moving around – with a combination of indoor and outdoor, strength and cardiovascular exercises I was starting to take control of my situation.

The value of good nutrition, enjoyable exercise and an active lifestyle was starting to sink in.  I did go through stages where I struggled with my weight, and it wasn’t until after I had my son that I really felt motivated to shift the excess kilos and get healthy.  I lost a whopping 30 kilograms and felt motivated to ‘pay it forward’.

I studied at the Australian Institute of Fitness and gained my Master Trainer certification before starting work at Fitness First, Knox City.  Over my 2 years working with Fitness First, I gained very valuable knowledge and worked with clients of all shapes and sizes, fitness levels and motivations.  Some of my clients went on to gain entry into the Australian Navy, some went on to run marathons, some had great healthy pregnancies and others achieved their goals in weight loss.  I also completed courses in Pre/Post Natal training and Nutrition during my time there.  My own struggle with back pain and injury has inspired me to help others struggling with similar conditions, and as such all of my sessions include focus on core strength.  A strong core is essential to rehabilitate and safeguard against injury.

I now have two children, and am currently working on my own goal to get back to my pre-baby weight before my daughter is 12 months old.

As a fully qualified and industry registered Personal Trainer I now want to share my expertise with you, and help you to achieve your health and fitness goals.  Whatever those goals might be, lets work together to create a happier, healthier you!
